The Lean Six Sigma Academy (LSSA) was established in September 2009 to develop an internationally recognized certification plan for all Lean Six Sigma Belt levels: the Yellow Belt (YB), the Orange Belt (OB), the Green Belt (GB) and the Black Belt (BB). The scheme was carried by the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme 2007-2013.
Lean Six Sigma Academy (LSSA) aims to create an open, professional, and quality-driven Lean Six Sigma knowledge community. LSSA is the project owner of Lean, Lean Six Sigma, and Automotive Engineering and supports the development of training content and certification. LSSA connects the candidates with accredited training providers and exam institutes worldwide.
The LSSA certification is based on the ‘Continuous Improvement Maturity Model’ (CIMM). This is a structure that guides a phased evolutionary approach for process improvement from a very early stage until delivering world-class products.
CIMM includes the most reliable practice methods and techniques of quality management, process improvement, and new product development. It covers best practices from TQM, Kaizen, TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, and Design for Six Sigma.
The knowledge and competencies you will get through the Lean Six Sigma courses on all four Belts will allow you to lead your company to the road of success by applying the Lean Six Sigma methodology. It aims to improve the efficiency and quality of projects/processes within companies and organizations.

Six Sigma is a way for process improvement by using analytical and statistical techniques. Six Sigma is based on the “Continuous Improvement Maturity Model” (CIMM), which is used for growing world-class products. “Lean” in this context means that some processes are considered comprehensively, enabling holistic process optimization.
The internationally recognized LSSA Lean Six Sigma certifications provide four levels of specialization in the areas of process improvement, quality management, and product development. These are called the Yellow Belt, Orange Belt, Green Belt, and Black Belt.
